It started with our own black cats. Black cats spend the longest waiting in shelters — passed over for being “too plain,” tangled up in old superstitions, and notoriously hard to photograph. We think that’s exactly backwards: a sleek black cat curled on your couch is one of the best things a home can hold. So Nyangi Studio USA began as a way to celebrate them out loud — and these days, to celebrate cats of every color right alongside them.
What began as a few hand-drawn designs on tote bags has grown into a small, ever-changing shelf of apparel, pins, and goods — each one a little love letter to the cats who inspire it, with black cats always closest to our hearts.
We work in small batches on purpose. It keeps the designs special, lets us try new ideas often, and means nothing sits in a warehouse gathering dust. Here’s what lives in the shop:
